ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robyn Gigl is the bestselling author of the Erin McCabe Legal Thriller series, as well as an attorney, speaker, and activist who has been honored by the ACLU-NJ and the NJ Pride Network for her work on behalf of the LGBTQ community. Appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court's Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement, she’s practiced law for more than 40 years, representing clients in state and federal courts. A frequent lecturer on diversity issues, she also is active in the New Jersey State Bar Association, where she is a member of the Diversity Committee, a Past Chair of the Bar's LGBTQ Rights Section, and the Board of Directors of Garden State Equality (New Jersey’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization).

In her fresh and riveting debut, BY WAY OF SORROW, we meet Erin McCabe, a New Jersey criminal defense attorney doing her best to live a quiet life in the wake of her transition—until a newsworthy case puts both her career and safety in jeopardy. Booklist praised her, saying, “Gigl, a transgender lawyer herself, provides provocative insights into the legal system and the challenges of gender identity,” and The NYT Book Review called the novel “emotionally resonant” and “quietly groundbreaking.” SURVIVOR’S GUILT was also chosen by the New York Times as one of their Best Crime Fiction picks for 2022.
