ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Candace Buford is the YA author of KNEEL—a thought-provoking, timely novel that explores racism on and off the field—and upcoming GOOD AS GOLD (Disney, June 2023), a propulsive mystery about one girl's search for her town's legendary sunken treasure.

She is also the author of WHATEVER HAPPENS (Scholastic, August 2021), an original story based on Netflix show Julie and the Phantoms, and co-author (along with Erica Armstrong Dunbar) of upcoming MG nonfiction SUZIE KING TAYLOR.

A children’s bookseller by day, Candace believes that Black lives matter, and partnered with Mutual Aid Books Seattle to host a protest library of Black and indigenous authored books during the pandemic.
